Nice effort! Hunt.
As a user & developer, i’m wondering about your work.
This extension lets Firefox accept the MIME of XHTML MP pages and treat them like normal web pages. So, XHTML MP will be laid out by Gecko.
Can you explain for me:
-The quality of rendered page, compared with other existing XHTML MP browser? Does it support all features of XHTML MP and WCSS?
See ur reply!
Hi Khiem,
Just call me Gareth
At the moment, the extension simply modifies the content-type of the response to something that Firefox can understand. It does not support the WAP extensions in WCSS or WML 2.0.
The idea is to give developers a simple way of viewing a mobile profile page in Firefox.
hi, Gareth (sorry for miscalling your name!)
You must be experienced in this domain.
I’m considering about the chance to make this extension supports full WML2.0 browsing. I did survey on the hierarchical relations among WAP and Web languages. Here’s wh I found:
-First, Firefox’s Gecko layout engine supports seamlessly for DHTML (includes XHTML, CSS 2, and JavaScript).
-XHTML MP is subset of XHTML => Gecko will understand almost XHTML MP Tags.
-WCSS is subset of CSS2 => Gecko will understand WCSS definition
-The up-coming scripting language for WAP 2.0 will be ECMAScript Mobile Profile which bases on JavaScript.
My idea is very simple, let Gecko browse WAP 2.0 with some content modifications for compatibility
p/s: I did some tests using your extension with several XHTML MP + WCSS pages, I could not find the incompatibility. your extension has support XHTML MP, WCSS but not very well => We need to improve further.
What do you think?
Khiem,
We should continue this conversation on the mailing list for the extension: http://xhtmlmp.mozdev.org/list.html. Please subscribe to the list.

The latest update reports hash problems, then fails the install, whenever an attempt is made to update the previous version (or even install from scratch). The previous version worked like a charm, but on my XP system i cant install the latest update, and i feel sure it will be an issue for many other users of such a neet tool.
Xyhfna, I have entered a bug report about this here: http://bugzilla.mozdev.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16741
I’ll be tracking it there. It would be handy if you could details there of your Firefox install. EG which version, what other addons you have. Which version of WinXP you have. Plus anything else you think would be useful.
I have the same issue. I tried to install it and it came up with Hash Problems. Can you repost it?
I’ve uploaded a new file to addons.mozilla.org. It will have to go through the review process. I will post here once that is complete.
The newly uploaded file has now been released onto https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1345.
Please try the download again. I have tried it and it seems to work.

Hi Martin, the problem is caused when XHTMLMP modifies the content type from application/vnd.wap.xhtml+xml to text/xml.
When Firefox renders text/xml it requires entities such as to be defined. To get around this I suggest you use the entity code   which is the numeric form of a non-breaking space.
Hi!
I can’t install your add-on in FireFox 2.0.0.9….
This version supported?
Yes it is. You should try the latest version 0.5.2.
