Version 0.7.1.1
* Fixed bug #24593: http://bit.ly/rCYEYk. The Addon bar will no longer show every time a new window is opened.
Version 0.7.1
- Modify Headers now has an icon
- The main window can be opened from the addon toolbar. Click the small icon to open a menu.
- “Always On” feature has been replaced by a Start/Stop button on the main window and on the addon toolbar.
Version 0.7.0
- Use drag and drop to organise your list of headers.
- The header entry text box will auto-complete as you type.
- The auto-complete is populated with a set of popular headers and will include any custom headers added.
Is this compatible with FF4?
Yes it is. Please download from: http://bit.ly/f9XSzh
Hi Gareth,
I adore your addon, it’s brilliant. It has always worked just fine – until I got FF 4. I added the same header as in the previous version of FF, but it has stopped fooling websites that I got into without problem in FF 3.6. I was quite puzzled and I hope you can help me. If you need any more information, I will be checking back here to answer any questions.
Thanks in advance.
This is strange, I use Modify Headers and Firefox 4 together with no problems. Please create a defect ticket here: http://bit.ly/eppJxg.
” 23828 X-Forwarded-For not working in FF4 ”
Yeah, that’s what isn’t working.
I just tried it on Firefox 4 (for Mac) and it works for me. Please add yourself as a CC to ticket 23828: https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=23828. That is the correct place to track problems, not the blog comments.
Gareth, why do we need modify headers? does it has anything to do with the way we browse on the internet?
Modify Headers allows you to modify the HTTP request headers – instructions sent from Firefox to a website. To find out more, I suggest you Google for “How HTTP works” and “HTTP request headers”.
Can I set a user agent to be modified only with certain websites?
Modifying headers for a specific website is not yet available. This is planned for the release this summer. I cannot be more specific as I develop this during my free time.
The toolbar at the bottom of the screen now eats about 30 pixels of my already tiny screen. Is there anyway to disable the toolbar? My current solution is to disable the plugin most of the time.
There is a new version available (0.7.1.1) that ensures the addon bar is disabled and not re-enabled at start-up: http://bit.ly/tS7MRX
I find no more this :
Options
General
Always On : Enable Modify Headers when the window/tab is closed
So it is imposible to use the program.
The Always On feature has been replaced with a Start/Stop button. Open the Modify Headers window and click the icon in the top left of the window so that it turns from grey to red. Modify Headers will then be ‘on’ until you click the icon again to stop it.
As you can see (in french), we have problems with the new version of “Modify Headers”.

Il is not the case with the old version.
So to have a solution immediatly, can we recupere the old version : can you give us on the site of firefox the possibility to recupere the old version (waiting later for a more definitive solution) ?
Thank you.
The URL you provided requires a login, so I have no idea what the problem is. Please file a bug (http://modifyheaders.mozdev.org/bugs.html) with more details.
thx, for this tool.. this addons is very useful in my country
btw, why i can not use in Https??
You should be able to use Modify Headers with HTTPS. If you have a problem, please open a new bug: modifyheaders.mozdev.org/bugs.html.
Can we have a map between headers and urls.. like always turn on header x, y and z when I go to http://www.someawesomelycoolsite.com but don’t send those headers anywhere else?
There is a bug for this already: https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=18585. It is a long requested feature. The biggest challenge is with the UI and making it something that is intuitive for users. I keep experimenting, but have not yet found an approach I’m happy with.
icon way to big
increases status bar to almost 1cm width
I’ve created a bug for this: https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=25195. Could you please update the bug with a screenshot, which version of linux, which desktop environment and your screen resolution?
